The A.Y House was built for an art collector. The simple structure of the house is made of concrete, corten and oak wood. We have dedicated numerous spaces indoors to present contemporary art pieces that were collected over the years.

Umrao Singh was a notable figure in Indian history, often recognized for his contributions to literature and culture during the 19th century. Born in the mid-1800s, he is best remembered for his poignant poetry that reflected the social and political landscapes of his time. His works often delved into themes of love, loss, and resilience, resonating deeply with the struggles of ordinary people. Singh's legacy continues to inspire contemporary writers and artists, highlighting the enduring power of expression in shaping societal narratives.

4-DEOLALI CAMP.png

Deolali Camp, located in Maharashtra, India, is steeped in historical significance and charm. Established in the 19th century as a military cantonment, it served as a resting point for British troops, making it a hub of military activity. The camp is known for its picturesque landscape, featuring lush greenery and a serene environment, which has made it a popular retreat. Over the years, Deolali has evolved into a cultural melting pot, with various artistic and literary influences, including those from figures like Umrao Singh. Today, it attracts visitors for its historical architecture, scenic views, and vibrant local culture, offering a glimpse into the past while continuing to inspire creativity and artistic expression.

At Artwall, we were privileged to create an art sculpture that embodies the narrative of Umrao Singh in Deolali Camp. This sculpture not only pays homage to his literary legacy but also captures the essence of his themes—love, loss, and resilience. Set against the backdrop of Deolali, a place rich in history and stories, our installation serves as a tribute to Singh's enduring impact on culture and art. Through this work, we aim to celebrate his contributions and inspire a deeper appreciation for the narratives that shape our shared heritage.
